 Cascade Manufacturing Company was founded in Portland, Oregon in 1943. They began as a small machine shop initially hiring 4 individuals. Product sales for their first year of operation amounted to about sixty thousand dollars. The very first recorded sales revenues involved the machining and assembly of stainless steel valves, pipe fittings and different parts. During 5 years of operation, the business had stretched to forty workers and their annual sales volume had risen to 330 thousand dollars. At present, Cascade is one of the leading international makers within the material handling business.
Manufacture and design of the company's very first hydraulic cylinder paved the way in Cascade's aggressive pursuit of new business possibilities. During the past sixty years, the material handling trade has grown into a very sophisticated field and Cascade has proudly played a part in this growth. Cascade presently continues to develop as the best supplier of lift truck accessories and numerous associated products. In the nineteen fifties, Cascade started designing, making and promoting hydraulic attachments. Construction was done in the year 1956 on a brand new facility so as to accommodate all of the office and plant operations in Portland, Oregon at the company's current headquarters. Subsequent to fifteen years of business, total workers reached one hundred eighty workers and sales had reached nearly 2.3 million dollars.
A second production plant was built in 1959 in Springfield, Ohio. The year 1960 marked Cascade's initial move into the international world of the material handling industry as the business recognized interest in the Netherlands, England, and Australia.
The company altered its name to Cascade Corporation in 1964. In the year 1965, Cascade went public with an initial offering of 200,000 shares of common stock. The business has expanded its manufacturing plants throughout the U.S. with areas in Warner Robins, Georgia, Portland, Oregon and Springfield, Ohio. Cascade products are made worldwide because of a lot of subsidiary operations. In the year 1944, a brand new plant was completed in Almere, the Netherlands which is Cascade's European control center. This facility is built to be the essential customer support centre.
Cascade further expanded their product base in 1996 and the year 1997 after acquiring 5 firms, which included the Kenhar Corporation, the worldwide leader in blades.
