The city has a "Special Collections" section within the Glendale Public Library, which has various original documents and records on Glendale history. During 1950, the Jewel City Cat Fanciers Club donated over 20,000 volumes to the library, making it the largest collection of books concerning cats in the globe. It is a special collection and will be kept permanently on view for those who are part of the club.
There are two notable restaurants which started within the city of Glendale. In 1945, Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlors began in Adams Square, while during 1936, Bob's Big Boy hamburger restaurants was established on East Colorado.
